Teen Volunteer Application

Do you need community service hours for school?  Do you like books more than people? Want to boost your resume for college?  Are you looking to help out your community?  Volunteer at the library!

Help once, or help regularly. Schedules are flexible and can be worked around schooling or other commitments. Applications can be found linked below or by asking at any library branch circulation desk. Simply fill it out, have it signed by a legal guardian, and return it to your desired volunteer branch. Ideal candidates will be middle or high school aged, able to follow directions, independent, or occasionally able to work as a team. Once your application is processed, you could be scheduled to help regularly on a weekly, monthly or one time basis.

In the past, volunteers have:

  • prepared Storytime crafts
  • Planned teen events
  • Assisted with programs, including summer reading events, Battle of the Books, STEAM programs, storytime, bike rodeo, arts and craft programs and more.
  • Created library displays
  • Suggested additions to the collection
  • Fetched and organized library materials
  • Weeded library materials

Benefits of volunteering include developing a sense of community, serving others, fostering a love of reading and learning responsibility. Teen volunteers can also have fun working together and with library staff towards a common goal.
