The Mount Vernon Helping Hand Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who make $60,000 or less and need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. Beginning January 25 until May 15, 2021.
Locations: Curbside (face-to-face) and/or drop off sites.

Step 1. Call for a quick consultation. Provide your email address with your name and telephone number. The VITA Coordinator will call to confirm and will send an Intake/Interview Sheet for you to complete.
Step 2: Return Intake/Interview Sheet & Tax Documents. Send Intake/Interview Sheet and pertinent tax documents by email to VITA Coordinator and wait for Zoom invitation.
Step 3: Attend Zoom session. Helping Hand VITA Preparer will invite you to a face-to-face Zoom session to complete and review tax return.
